A father, a son, and a lot of bricks

Hi there! We're Brick Rescue Co., a father-and-son team in Oakland. We give used LEGO a second life: we sort it, clean it, check it, and send it to families who will build with it again.

Who does what

My 8-year-old sorts, checks, and photographs the bricks himself. He decides what goes together, counts the pieces, and takes the pictures you see on every listing. I handle the listings and the packing.

It turns out an 8-year-old is very good at spotting a missing piece, and very strict about it.

Where the bricks come from

Many of these bricks come from my own childhood collection, so I hope they bring your family as much fun as they brought mine.

We're also buying bins from families around the Bay Area: the ones in the closet that nobody plays with anymore. We rescue what's inside and pass it on.

Our promises

  • Everything is cleaned and described as honestly as we can.
  • If anything isn’t right, message us and we’ll make it right.
  • Buying more than one lot? We’re happy to combine shipping, or you can pick up for free in Oakland.

The sorting machine

Sorting by hand is half the fun, but some bins are big. So we're also building a sorting machine at home: a camera recognizes each brick, and a small servo-driven flap sends it to the right bin. It's still a work in progress, and it's the best science project either of us has had.

Have old LEGO? We buy it, too.
